Nevada bites back: Governor signs bill banning dog leasing

RENO, Nev. — Leasing dogs, a transaction practiced by Reno-based financial firm Bristlecone Holdings, will soon be illegal in Nevada after Gov. Brian Sandoval signed a bill outlawing the act.

Senate Bill 185 is a consumer protection bill that bars businesses from using contracts that financially punish customers for leaving bad reviews.

Air Force Expansion Spurs Concern for Nevada Wildlife Refuge

CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Conservationists are rallying around a pair of legislative resolutions opposing the U.S. Air Force’s proposed expansion of a bombing training range they say would threaten big horn sheep and other wildlife at a national refuge in southern Nevada.

The conflict pits the interests of the military’s Nevada Test and Training Range, the largest of its kind in the world, against those of the Desert National Wildlife Refuge, the largest U.S. refuge outside Alaska.

The Nevada Independent: Nevada DMV debuts 'Forever Strong' specialty license plate to benefit Las Vegas Resiliency Center

On the second anniversary of the Route 91 Harvest shooting in Las Vegas, the Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles is releasing a “Forever Strong” license plate.

The specialty license plate will raise funds for the Las Vegas Resiliency Center that continues to assist victims of the tragedy. For every “Forever Strong” license plate purchased, $25 from the initial issue and $20 for renewals will go to the Resiliency Center.
